After dropping in at Zeb's house and saying goodbye, we went to the airport and had a teary farewell. I managed not to cry, at least until I missed out on the in-flight ice-creams while I was in the bathroom. Then I walked all the way down the plane with my fly undone.
Anyways, I arrived in Los Angeles at about 9.30AM on Monday, after leaving Sydney at 1PM the same day. I wandered around Hollywood and looked at some stuff, like the tacky walk of fame and the Kodak theatre.
A guy called Mr. Muscles was standing on the sidewalk saying “get your photos of Mr. Muscles' famous biceps” or something. I thought it was funny, so I quickly tried to take a photo but he saw me, and quickly approached and told me I had to pay for it. He was pretty nice though, when I suggested I could just delete the photo, he said I could keep it... it'll just be $5.
I then went on a tour, and when we were stopped at a set of lights, a bunch of gangster looking guys in an SUV started giving me the finger. I wanted to take a photo of that, but I figured it could end up costing me more than a few dollars.
The next day I went to Universal Studios, and just like every single day in L.A it was H.O.T. They don't have clouds there, but they do there best to replicate that experience by all driving huge cars, and I have to say the smog is a very reasonable replacement. They didn't have a lot of rides, no scary ones anyway, but I walked home from Hollywood at 10.30 the night before which was freaky enough (Seinfeld, NBC, 1998).
I left my room and got a shuttle to the airport, then waited for 3 hours for the plane. I was worrying the entire time that maybe I didn't have the right documents to get into Canada, but you'll find out how I went going through customs in the next installment: 'Episode 2: Turned Back at the Border'
